Before joining Norwich, the Serbian goalkeeper faced a challenging 2024/25 season, splitting his time between Sporting Lisbon and a loan spell at Legia Warsaw, where he made only 19 appearances. Now, he is living out a long-cherished aspiration. "I really enjoy every game," Kovacevic stated. "Full stadium, good atmosphere, good pitch. So, really, really pleased to be here. It was my dream. First year, and I’m happy here." Read more about Marcondes Eyes Exit as Norwich Focus on Youth.
Adapting to the demands of the Championship has not been without its difficulties, particularly regarding the defensive challenges posed by set pieces, which can test even the most seasoned goalkeepers. "It's really tough when they put two or three players on you and you need to come out and either punch or catch the ball. It makes it really difficult for us," Kovacevic acknowledged.
Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about the defensive performance of his team. "I think we did a really good job today, and in the games over the last couple of months. We didn't concede a lot of goals from set pieces. But, yeah, like you said, it’s really tough for me as a keeper, and I think it is the same for all the defensive players."
The goalkeeper position at Norwich has seen considerable changes over the past year. Alongside Kovacevic, the club has welcomed Daniel Grimshaw and Louie Moulden, and the trio have quickly built a strong sense of camaraderie. "Yes, I think it's a really good group of keepers," the 27-year-old remarked. "We are happy. We enjoy training a lot. Before every session, we have some fun and games. Sometimes we play two against two, then some more fun and games. It’s a really good dressing room for keepers, so yeah, we are happy."
As Norwich City navigates the remainder of the season, Kovacevic's dedication and enthusiasm will be vital in their pursuit of success in the Championship.
