Norwich City goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic calls for a game-by-game approach following a vital 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, boosting their survival hopes.

First-half goals from Mathias Kvistgaarden and Paris Maghoma highlighted Norwich’s strong performance, allowing them to take control of the match with 12 fixtures remaining in the season. Despite this encouraging position, Kovacevic has urged his teammates to adopt a methodical, game-by-game approach to maintain their positive momentum.

“It’s a perfect evening for everybody here, a great win and a great night,” Kovacevic remarked. “We keep a clean sheet, two goals. We could have scored at least one more to finish the game earlier, but we’re happy with 2-0. When you start as we did, scoring one and then a second, it’s really important for the team. Then they need to push more, and that creates a lot of space for us in the build-up. So, that was really important.” Read more about Rowett Targets Vital Win as Leicester Host Norwich.

With this crucial win, Norwich now finds themselves in a more secure position, but Kovacevic stressed the importance of staying grounded. “Now we are eight points clear, but we go game by game. I don’t watch the table every time and scroll to find where we are at the moment, but we go game by game. Now it’s a tough match against Leicester City, and that’s it. We need to go match by match, and every game we need to give everything.” Read more about Marcondes Eyes Exit as Norwich Focus on Youth.

Kovacevic’s clean sheet against Sheffield Wednesday marks his fifth of the current Championship season, reflecting a significant improvement in Norwich’s defensive capabilities. Since Boxing Day, they have won every encounter against teams positioned below them in the league, allowing just five shots on target throughout this successful stretch.

“It’s really important for us, and I think defensively now we did a very good job today and in the previous game, and I hope in the future, too,” he added. “When you keep a clean sheet, everything is open, so we need just one goal, and then we can win the games. But this is the Championship. You need to expect everything.”

Kovacevic’s insights on the team’s defensive enhancements illustrate a positive shift in momentum within the squad, which they aim to carry forward into their upcoming match against Leicester City. As the pressure intensifies and the stakes rise, each point becomes crucial in their quest for Championship survival.
