Springett Targets Lasting Impact as Canaries Rise

Tony Springett aims to build on his comeback with Norwich City, having secured a starting role and earned the trust of manager Philippe Clement.

Tony Springett is determined to translate his inspiring comeback story into a narrative of sustained contributions for Norwich City. After an arduous 18-month period on the sidelines that raised doubts about his future, the Irish youth international has successfully re-established himself within the squad, playing an essential role in the Canaries’ resurgence under manager Philippe Clement.

Having started five of the last ten Championship matches, Springett's dedication and hard work are beginning to yield positive results. His relentless effort has not only secured him a spot in the starting lineup but has also garnered the trust of Clement. However, the winger remains focused on more than just his return; he aims to leave a significant mark on the pitch. Read more about Ahmed Chooses Norwich as Clement's Vision Impresses.

"I feel like I've been good. Of course, I could still add some more goals and assists into my game, but I feel like I've given it everything I can, and that's what I stand by," Springett stated in the club’s official programme. "Every game that I play, at least you know that you're going to get 100 percent effort from me and I'm going to give it my all every time and the goals and assists will start coming."

Springett's journey back to the first team has been filled with emotion. "It's been an unbelievable feeling. You can go from feeling down and out, being out such a long time. I had to come back and get myself in the mix," he reflected. The support he has received from Clement has been particularly encouraging: "He has shown trust in me, and he shows that he believes in me. So, you can't really ask for anything more as a player, and I've been kind of waiting for that moment and it's finally come. I've just got to take it and not let it slip away."

Beyond his contributions on the pitch, Springett is known for his vibrant personality in the dressing room and has become a fan favourite. His resurgence culminated in a memorable moment during the 5-1 FA Cup victory over Walsall, where he scored his first goal for the club, prompting a chant from the supporters that echoed throughout Carrow Road.

"I think that's probably up there with one of the best feelings I've had in a long time, for sure," he said, reflecting on that pivotal goal. "I've been here since I was 11 or 12, and for the moment to finally come, I was over the moon. That's just the first one. Hopefully, I can keep delivering and get some more."

The bond within the squad has also contributed significantly to his comeback. "As a group in general, we're very close. We all get on really well. For some reason, when I scored, the whole place seemed to erupt and for me personally, that's just a great feeling that I had, especially knowing that everyone felt that way when I scored."

The affection from the fans has been palpable. "It's a great feeling, especially having my own song now. When I hear it, and it's loud and clear, it kind of gives me that extra push, adrenaline rush and makes me want to keep going all the time. I just want to say that I really appreciate them at the same time."

With aspirations for further contributions, Springett is intent on transforming his hard work into tangible success for the Canaries. As he continues to find his rhythm, Norwich supporters will be hopeful that this marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in his career.
