Norwich Target Hgh as Bodo Glimt Chief Acknowledges Challenge

Bodo Glimt's Frode Thomassen admits the potential loss of striker Kasper Hgh could be significant, with Norwich City keen on the £6m forward ahead of Champions League clash.

Frode Thomassen, the chief executive of Bodo Glimt, has acknowledged that the potential transfer of striker Kasper Hgh could pose a significant challenge for the Norwegian club. Reports suggest that Norwich City are keen on acquiring the forward, who is valued at approximately £6 million. Hgh is expected to play a pivotal role in Bodo Glimt's upcoming Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid, a match that could greatly influence the club's trajectory in the tournament. The 22-year-old forward has garnered considerable attention following his standout performance in a recent match, where he scored a decisive brace against Manchester City. Hgh is not only on Norwich’s radar; he has also attracted interest from other notable clubs, including Celtic and Fulham, both of which compete in the Championship. Thomassen’s comments indicate that the potential departure of Hgh will be assessed carefully by the club.

“We don’t have to sell anyone, but if the offer is good and the player would like to go, of course we will judge it and see,” Thomassen stated. “I think Kasper enjoys playing in Bodo, but we will see. Our focus right now is on Madrid. We never comment on links, so we won’t focus on the day tomorrow.”

In discussing the club's overarching philosophy, Thomassen emphasised the importance of prioritising performance over financial gain. “There are two big ways in football to earn money. One of them is performance on the pitch and one is to sell players. For us, it has been important to focus on the performance part and having a strong team. Our main goal has not been to develop players to sell them. At the moment, we are a good team.”

Thomassen further praised Hgh’s contributions both on the pitch and within the team environment. “Kasper was the top scorer in the Europa League when we made a semi-final last spring, but he is a really good footballer and a really good striker. As a person, he is quite special. A good teammate who carries good values—he is one of the players who embody the culture that is vital for the club.”

As the squad prepares for the crucial match in Madrid, Thomassen expressed a blend of optimism and realism. “For sure it was the best moment in our history and maybe the best result in Norwegian club football. I know we will perform well in Madrid, and we will see if it can make us go through the play-offs. It is a difficult away arena, and I don’t think they have lost many matches there.”

With the domestic transfer deadline approaching, Norwich City are actively seeking to enhance their squad, leaving Hgh's future uncertain. However, Bodo Glimt's management appears resolute in their desire to retain their star striker—at least for the time being.
