Norwich City defender Jose Cordoba has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in form, a transformation he attributes to the influence of manager Philippe Clement. Since Clement took the helm in November, the Panama international has stepped up his performances, playing a vital role in both his personal development and the club's aspirations. Notably, Cordoba chose to join Norwich over a move to Rangers during Clement's previous tenure at Ibrox, a decision that is now paying dividends. Partnering with Ruairi McConville in defence, Cordoba has been instrumental in helping Norwich concede just two goals in their last five Championship matches. His contributions have not gone unnoticed, and the 25-year-old credits his revival to Clement's coaching approach, the team's unity, and his own hard work following a recent injury layoff.
"I feel really good and happy at the moment," Cordoba shared in the club's matchday programme. "That's all I can say. I feel really good with my performances and my feelings. I've been working so hard for that, so I'm happy."
Reflecting on the team's recent form, Cordoba expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I'm pleased that now we've switched on. All of us have been working really hard to have these performances, especially at home. I'm pleased that we are in a good run."
Having overcome the challenge of injury, Cordoba is now relishing his return to peak form. "Obviously having an injury is tough. After that moment, it was a real challenge for me, but I feel good and I'm happy to be back," he remarked.
Under Clement's guidance, Cordoba has rediscovered his passion for the game. "I enjoy it a lot because he demands a lot from us. I'm 100% happy in all the work that we've been doing. I'm feeling comfortable with all the demands, efforts and all the work." Read more about Clement Shortlisted for Championship Manager of the Month.
This individual revival mirrors Norwich's overall performance, with the team winning six out of their last seven matches, establishing a seven-point cushion above the Championship relegation zone. The Canaries are now gearing up to face West Brom at Carrow Road in the FA Cup this weekend, aiming to build on their recent success. The atmosphere within the squad is buoyant, as Cordoba noted, "The mood is really good in the changing room. Everyone is focused on what we have to be focused on, and everyone is giving it to the team 100%. That's what I want as a player, and I think everyone is on the same page from the beginning since the manager joined us."
Cordoba also highlighted the unique experience of playing at home, adding, "It's a great feeling always to play at home. To play in our stadium and how great it is to play in this field, so it feels really good. It helps us a lot to play at home, but we cannot play every game at home. It's really good to have the supporters behind us."
As Norwich City aims for further success in both the league and the FA Cup, Cordoba's contributions will be crucial in the weeks ahead.
