Long Queues Disrupt Norwich City Fans
Dozens of Norwich City fans missed kick-off after being left stuck outside the stadium. Supporters were caught in long queues outside the Carrow Road ticket office as the Canaries faced Birmingham City on Wednesday.
The club introduced a new digital ticketing system ahead of the 2025/26 season, requiring fans to use smartphones to access tickets via Apple or Google Wallets. However, many fans struggled to access their digital tickets.
Just minutes before kick-off, long queues began forming outside the ticket office while fans had paper tickets printed, leading to delays and frustration. Supporters described the system as a "joke" and a "nightmare."
One disgruntled supporter shared, "A friend had transferred his season ticket to me as he couldn't make the game, but I never received an email or ticket to add to my wallet. I had to stand outside and queue for a paper ticket while On The Ball City was being sung in the ground."
Norwich went on to win the game 2-1, with fans able to see both of the Canaries' goals from Oscar Schwartau and Papa Diallo.
Schwartau's Stunning Goal Sparks Victory
Oscar Schwartau's long-range strike kickstarted an important 2-1 win over Birmingham. The 20-year-old's stunning effort proved crucial as Norwich secured back-to-back victories over strong Championship sides.
Schwartau admitted, "I didn't play that well up until the goal, but to score a goal like that is always a great feeling." His goal swung momentum in favor of the hosts, who had struggled to find rhythm early in the match.
Norwich had to withstand late pressure after Carlos Vicente reduced the deficit in the second half. Schwartau expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "It was a tough game, but in the end, we got the three points."
Blues Boss Criticizes Referee Decisions
Chris Davies, Birmingham's boss, criticized the performance of referee Tom Reeves after the 2-1 defeat at Norwich City. He labeled the officiating a new low in his coaching career, particularly regarding a disallowed goal by Liam Millar.
Davies stated, "I believe it's onside, from what I've been told, and it probably sums up the evening." He expressed frustration over the number of decisions that went against his team, which he felt impacted the match's outcome.
Despite the disappointment, Davies acknowledged his team's performance, saying, "Outside of that 15-minute period I thought we were good." However, he lamented the missed opportunities that cost them the match.
