Slimane Committed to Norwich Amid World Cup Excitement

Anis Ben Slimane expresses happiness at Norwich City, reflecting on a strong season and his World Cup call-up with Tunisia after overcoming injury setbacks.

Ben Slimane happy to stay at Norwich

Anis Ben Slimane has expressed contentment at Norwich City following what he describes as "probably one of my best seasons". The 25-year-old midfielder returned from a six-month injury lay-off in January and went on to register 12 goal involvements in all competitions under Philippe Clement’s management.

Speaking to Tunisian media ahead of the World Cup, Slimane said, "You don't know, but I'm very happy to be in Norwich; everything can happen. I'm really, really happy with the coach. I think that I will stay, that's the plan for now, but you never know in football."

His resurgence at Carrow Road earned him a recall to the Tunisia squad for the summer’s World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, after missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the season due to injury.

World Cup call-up rewards Norwich form

Slimane’s form under Philippe Clement was pivotal in securing his place in Tunisia’s squad for the World Cup, where they face Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands in Group F. The new Tunisian manager Sabri Lamouchi included him after a strong second half of the season.

Injury setback and comeback

The midfielder admitted missing AFCON was difficult but used the disappointment to fuel his return. "I was injured for the first six months, came back in January, and now I have 12 goal involvements and a call-up for the national team to the World Cup," he said.

He added, "I really wanted to be with the national team, I really wanted to help the team, but I also have to be honest, I was injured for six months, and when the Coupe d'Afrique (AFCON) started, I was just coming back, so I know that I will not be able to help the team. I was sad, I really wanted to be with the team, but I worked really hard, and I'm here now."

Norwich’s summer plans and Slimane’s future

Ben Slimane’s turnaround under Clement has been one of several positive stories at Carrow Road since the Belgian took charge in November 2025. Several players who struggled under previous managers have found form and consistency, helping Norwich climb the Championship table and reach the FA Cup Round of 16.

According to The Pink'un, Football League World, Slimane is currently focused on staying at Norwich but acknowledges football can change quickly. His trust in Clement has been key to his decision to remain for now.

A strong World Cup showing could attract interest, but for the moment, the midfielder appears settled and ready to build on his best season yet at Carrow Road.
