Clement's Positive Outlook Amidst Challenges
Philippe Clement was happy to accentuate the positives as he steers Norwich City through a bumpy opening to the new season.
Two Carabao Cup wins have sandwiched two Championship defeats, but the City head coach heads into the weekend game at home to Burnley having seen signs of improvement.
Learning from Defeats and Successes
While some fans have painted a bleak picture of one goal and no points on the league tally, Clement looks at it from a different perspective.
"I don't live in the hype, I don't live in the drama," he said after the 2-1 cup win at Cardiff on Tuesday.
"You speak now about two defeats. Yes, that's true on paper, but I don't feel that the West Brom (1-2) game was a defeat because we were much better. We created the best chances by far. We should have won that game."
Clement expressed disappointment over the Millwall game (lost 3-0), stating he did not see the team's identity and emphasized the need for improvement.
Focus on Player Fitness and Control
Clement is keen to ensure player workloads are even, which was behind some of the selection changes in midweek, with improving fitness high on his agenda.
"In big moments, we still need to keep more control of the ball at the end of the game," he said. "You saw that some legs became tired, but also players who didn't play so much 90 minutes at this level."
He noted that Jacob Wright played well but became tired towards the end, highlighting the need for better control to finish games effectively.
