Former Norwich City star Dean Ashton has compared Canaries’ new signing Ante Crnac to a young puppy following his arrival from Croatia. The 20-year-old attacker was brought in as a significant acquisition after Adam Idah's departure to Celtic in the recent transfer window, with sporting director Ben Knapper investing heavily in the forward.
Despite already featuring in five league starts under Johannes Hoff Thorup, Crnac has yet to register a goal or assist. Ashton has noted that Crnac's skill and touches on the ball suggest he has immense potential. His playmaking ability was evident when he provided an assist for Josh Sargent during the 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Ashton, speaking on BBC Radio Norfolk, highlighted Crnac's mixed performances, saying, “He reminds me a bit of a young puppy as in he will do something that is so lovely and just superb. And then just turn around and hit their head on the door.” He commended Crnac's touches, describing them as indicative of a player with promise, and cited the assist as particularly outstanding.
Thorup’s continued trust in Crnac indicates a belief in his capability to develop further. Norwich City fans will be eager to see the Croatian forward find the net and establish himself within the squad as the 2024/2025 season progresses.
