Derby County manager Paul Warne has expressed his hopes that Norwich City would sell striker Josh Sargent during the summer transfer window, but he is pleased that the Canaries opted to retain the talented forward.
Sargent, who is a vital part of Norwich's squad, enjoyed a prolific season last year, scoring 16 goals in 28 league appearances as the Canaries made a strong playoff push. This season, he has already found the net twice, and Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup will be relying on him to provide crucial goals in the upcoming match against Derby County.
Warne, a boyhood fan of Norwich City, acknowledged Sargent's quality, stating, “They have Sargent up front, who is obviously a very good player. From a Derby point of view, I was hoping they were going to sell him in the summer. And from a Norwich point of view, I was quite pleased they kept him.”
This summer, Warne bolstered his attacking options by signing strikers Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates, but Sargent’s continued presence in the Norwich squad represents a significant challenge for Derby as they aim to maintain their unbeaten record at Pride Park this season. The match against Norwich promises to be an exciting encounter for both teams.
