Maghoma Shines as Canaries Embrace New Star

Paris Maghoma is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Norwich City after a strong start, showcasing his potential and versatility in key matches.

Paris Maghoma's Impact at Norwich City

After years of moving between temporary homes, Paris Maghoma has finally put down roots at Carrow Road and is quickly endearing himself to Canaries supporters.

Signed in late January for a reported 800,000 from Brentford, Maghoma's arrival ended a long-term scouting pursuit, bringing EFL and Premier League experience while adding a homegrown option and competition for the number ten role.

A graduate of the Tottenham academy, the 25-year-old made just ten appearances for the Bees in six years at the Gtech Community Stadium, spending loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons, and Bolton, with his time in the North West proving particularly productive.

Standout Performances and Fan Favorite

Twelve goal contributions in 37 League One appearances during the 2023/24 campaign earned him a place in Thomas Frank's squad the following season, where he made eight Premier League appearances before ankle and hamstring injuries disrupted his progress.

A successful loan spell at Bolton in 2023/24 was followed by injury setbacks that hampered Maghoma's progress. His switch to Norwich offered an opportunity to leave those setbacks behind and make a fresh start under Philippe Clement, who had previously monitored his progress during his time at Rangers.

Having missed games against Middlesbrough and Blackburn while building up his fitness, a half-hour cameo away at Oxford offered City fans a first glimpse of Maghoma pulling the strings.

A standout display followed against West Brom in the FA Cup, his first competitive start in 13 months, as he nodded home the opener on Valentine's Day in a performance that sparked the "From Paris with Love" headlines.

Future Prospects and International Ambitions

His growing influence and emergence as a fan favorite were evident at the King Power Stadium a few days later, where he delivered a commanding first-half showing, dictating City's attacking play and inspiring his own chant.

Maghoma's versatility is another plus, having been deployed on the flanks as well as in deeper midfield areas, a role he also filled at Brentford. Three assists in his final 10 Championship outings, above an expected assists figure of 2.34, further fueled excitement around the levels he could reach next season with a full pre-season under his belt.

Despite representing England at youth level, Maghoma is also targeting a senior call-up with DR Congo, for whom he is eligible through his parents. A strong season would further strengthen his case.

All of that increasingly suggests Maghoma could be in line for a special year. The early signs have already been encouraging, and there is a feeling that his game still has another level to come once consistency and rhythm fully align. Should he establish himself in a frontline role, the fee may soon look like a shrewd coup, according to The Pink'un.
