Adrian Forbes, a significant figure in Norwich City’s history, has stepped down from his role at Texoma FC, a club he played a pivotal part in establishing in the United States. This marks the end of an important chapter for the former midfielder, who is now eager to explore new challenges.
Forbes joined Texoma FC in 2024 after leaving a coaching position at Luton Town. He took on the dual roles of sporting director and head coach, aiming to build a competitive team and foster a strong football culture. Under his leadership, Texoma FC made its league debut in USL League One in 2025, finishing in 12th place. The season proved challenging, with the team securing only seven victories from 30 matches, ultimately falling seven points short of the play-off positions. In a reflective post on LinkedIn, the 47-year-old expressed pride in the achievements during his tenure. "While this wasn't an outcome I had planned, I am proud of what we built and the progress made during my tenure," Forbes wrote. He emphasised the collaborative spirit within the club, stating, "It was a privilege to work with a committed group of players and sporting department staff." Forbes also highlighted his commitment to creating a supportive environment, saying, "The plan from the outset was for me to create a person-first environment that allowed all players and staff to be the best form of themselves."
Despite the on-field difficulties, Forbes's efforts in talent recruitment were commendable. His squad included players from diverse backgrounds, including Poland, South Africa, Ghana, Gambia, and Canada, alongside two English players—Luke McCormick and Teddy Baker—who came from the academies of Nottingham Forest and Ipswich.
In June of last year, Forbes shared his ambitions for Texoma FC with BBC Radio Norfolk, stating, "We are all gearing up to make this team as successful as it can be. Our first key aim is to get promoted from USL League One into the USL Championship." However, following a disappointing season and a strategic decision by the club’s owners to transition to USL Two for the 2026 season, Forbes's role was reassessed. This led to the appointment of Steven De Luna as general manager and the promotion of Ben Charvis from academy director to head coach. Looking ahead, Forbes is enthusiastic about the next chapter in his career. "I'm now focused on the next step and open to new opportunities where I can bring my knowledge and experience and continue making a positive impact on players and coaches," he expressed.
As Forbes embarks on this new journey, Texoma FC is also evolving, launching a new club, Rodeo SC, which plans to compete in USL One by 2027.
Forbes's departure from Texoma FC signifies the end of an era for the club and opens doors for both him and the dynamic landscape of American soccer.
