Bellamy Stays Committed to Wales
Former Norwich City academy product Craig Bellamy has committed his future to Wales amid links with the vacant roles at Burnley and Celtic.
The Cardiff-born coach is midway through his four-year contract as Cymru boss after replacing Rob Page in July 2024 but fell short of delivering World Cup qualification following March's play-off defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina. That disappointment fueled recent rumours linking Bellamy to managerial vacancies at Turf Moor and Parkhead, given his strong connections to both clubs. The 46-year-old spent two years as an assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley while also enjoying a loan spell at Celtic as a player more than two decades ago.
Future Focused on Euro 2028
While admitting there have been offers for his services, Bellamy insists his focus remains firmly on the future with Wales as he looks to build towards Euro 2028 on home soil.
"I don't need anything else. That’ll come at another time, and then we'll have a different discussion then," the Welshman told Sky Sports ahead of the clash with Ghana on Tuesday evening. Read more about Cordoba Gears Up for Maracana Clash Against Brazil.
Bellamy stated, "I am ambitious, though, trust me. I want to earn loads and loads of money, but there's a time, and now, at this present moment, it just doesn't feel like that time."
Bellamy's Management Aspirations
Bellamy might have ruled himself out of the running this time, but the ex-winger who played 91 games for Norwich has not closed the door on a return to club management in the future.
"Look, I miss it every day. I miss not being able to do this every single day, of course. But I knew what I was coming into as well," he added.
He emphasized the importance of having the right conditions for success, stating, "To me, the most important thing is when that day does come (to leave), is it a situation that's going to allow me to become successful?"
Bellamy concluded, "I love what I have here," reflecting his commitment to the Welsh national team and his ambitions for the future.
