Sebastien Bassong Shines in Boxing Debut
Former Norwich City defender Sebastien Bassong proved a hit on his boxing debut. The 40-year-old was top of the bill at a charity event in London, where he stopped former Arsenal player Armand Traore in the third round, marking a north London derby success for the former Spurs defender.
Trainer Praises Bassong's Competitive Spirit
Leading trainer Don Charles was in Bassong's corner for the event and expressed his admiration, stating, "It was very impressive. I knew he would do it. This guy is so driven and he's such a competitor." Charles noted that Bassong gives him a tough time during sparring sessions.
Bassong reportedly took up boxing after retiring in 2019, and Charles believes that had they worked together years ago, he could have reached world-class potential due to his competitiveness.
Charity Event Raises Significant Funds
The charity event, organized by Pro Project Promotions, aims to unite retired athletes in purpose-driven events that channel their competitive spirit towards making a positive impact. The organization has raised over £201,500 for charity across its first two events and hopes to reach a £500,000 target in their debut year.
Graham Stack, Founder of Pro Project Promotions, emphasized the dedication of the fighters, stating, "These lads put the work in for months, stepped into the ring in front of a packed Grosvenor and gave everything for a good cause." For more details, visit The Pink'un.
