Portsmouth's Narrow Victory at Norwich
John Mousinho felt Portsmouth edged a game of "fine margins," and hailed his side's response to derby despair in a 1-0 Championship victory at Norwich City.
Pompey have roared back from a defeat at Southampton to beat Sheffield United with an 89th-minute midweek winner, and then inflict more misery on the Canaries to claim six points from six.
Marezi (Marko Milovanovi) slotted a penalty for his third Championship goal in eight appearances since a reported £3m summer move from Almeria.
"I wanted us to be low on Monday morning coming back into work after losing a derby in the circumstances we did," said Mousinho. "I wanted us to use that pain and disappointment to fuel us going into Wednesday, which it did. We attacked that game and we got our rewards and we did it in this game."
Grimshaw Acknowledges Fan Frustration
Dan Grimshaw insists Norwich City's players understand the boos that greeted another damaging defeat as their Championship campaign continues to unravel.
Their 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth at Carrow Road on Saturday was their eighth in 11 league matches and fifth in succession, leaving the Canaries just one place and one point above the relegation zone.
Supporters made their feelings clear at full-time, greeting the players with boos and chants of "you're not fit to wear the shirt" after another dispiriting display. Grimshaw accepts City have given their fans reason to be angry and believes the responsibility for changing the mood rests with those inside the dressing room.
"No football player wants to be in a position that we're there walking around getting booed. But at the moment, we can understand their frustrations," Grimshaw told The Pink'un.
Mousinho Praises Team Resilience
Mousinho was proud of how his players and away support reacted to a super-charged occasion pre-match with the tribute to Norwich's former joint majority shareholder, Michael Wynn Jones.
"Look at the response the lads gave off the back of the start of the game. I noticed it straight away before the kick-off, when their song goes around Carrow Road, that's definitely when I heard 'Play Up Pompey' through all that," he said.
"You know what it's been like over the past four years since I've been here, the support has been unbelievable and we're asking for that again whenever we go away from home."
