Kvistgaarden shines with goal and assist at Charlton
Mathias Kvistgaarden made a significant impact for Norwich City during their recent match at Charlton, ending the club’s losing streak with a goal and an assist. After a promising substitute appearance against Portsmouth, Kvistgaarden was given the nod to lead the attack and delivered when it mattered most.
The Dane scored his fourth goal of the season and set up Paris Maghoma’s equaliser, providing the cutting edge Norwich had been missing. His performance strengthened his case for more regular involvement in the first team.
Kvistgaarden credits Ruairi for goal delivery
Kvistgaarden was quick to praise an unexpected source for his goal, highlighting the quality of a cross from defender Ruairi McKenzie. Speaking to The Pink'un, he said, "I was just surprised that it was Ruairi making the cross. I've seen actually a right centre-back do a cross from the left side. I don't think I've seen that before."
He added, "Ruairi is a fantastic player. But of course, I didn't see that as one of his strong sides to put a cross like that. It was a wonderful cross and I just have to put it in."
"So I think, yes, it's my goal, but I think it's probably 80pc Ruairi's goal. To be honest, I really feel safe in those situations. That's probably one of the finishes I like the most."
Maghoma’s equaliser and team focus after Charlton
Kvistgaarden also reflected on Paris Maghoma’s equaliser, which he assisted. The goal was a key moment in the match, though Maghoma’s muted celebration sparked discussion among fans.
Kvistgaarden on Maghoma’s reaction
"I think that you have to talk with Paris about that one. I can't talk for him in that one. But I think it was like a sign that we can do this and we keep going and stay focused," Kvistgaarden said.
He praised both the pass and the finish: "It was a pass that I'm happy with. I'm happy with the quality of it. But I still think you need to give a lot of credit for Paris because it's a very, very tight angle he's doing a finish from."
"So one thing is the pass, but the finish is even more wonderful."
