Teemu Pukki Announces Retirement
Norwich City legend Teemu Pukki has announced his playing retirement in his native Finland.
The prolific double-title winning Canaries striker will call time on a 16-year playing career after his final four games for HJK Helsinki.
Pukki's Impressive Norwich City Career
Pukki's decorated five-year spell at Carrow Road brought two Championships, two player-of-the-years, a golden boot, and 88 goals in 210 appearances.
The 36-year-old forged formidable attacking partnerships with Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia during a golden period under Daniel Farke, after arriving on a free transfer following his exit from Brondby in 2018.
Finland's All-Time Top Goalscorer
Pukki is also Finland's all-time top goalscorer, surpassing Jari Litmanen, to score 42 goals in 113 appearances that included helping his country reach Euro 2020, played the following summer due to Covid.
The forward had earlier spells at Sevilla, Schalke, Celtic, and in the MLS with Minnesota after leaving Carrow Road in 2023.
The former City top gun confirmed his pending retirement on his social media on Tuesday afternoon.
He posted: "The time has come for me to say farewell to professional football after this season. I have four games left with HJK in my career, and I want to win them all."
"Football has given me so much more than I could ever have dreamed of as a little boy. Thanks to football, I have had the opportunity to see the world and gain experiences that I don't believe anything else could have given me."
"It hasn't always been fun, and there have been times when I haven't been able to enjoy it, but my love for football has always been there."
"I want to say a huge thank you to all the clubs and fans, as well as to everyone I have been part of a team with - the coaches, staff and, of course, the magnificent teammates with whom I have shared the dressing room."
"My warmest thanks go to my family and everyone else close to me. You have given me all your support and, in doing so, made it possible for me to keep playing for such a long time. Thank you."
