Norwich City have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of highly-rated forward Mathias Kvistgaarden from Brøndby IF. The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Carrow Road, with the option for an additional year, after the club activated a release clause reported to be around £6.9 million.

His move follows a previous agreement between Brøndby and French Ligue 1 club Lens, who had offered £11 million earlier this month. However, Kvistgaarden made it clear that his preference was to join Norwich, viewing the club as his ideal destination.
Last season, Kvistgaarden made a significant impact, netting 23 goals and attracting interest from several clubs, including Celtic, Eintracht Frankfurt, and West Ham United.
In his first interview with the club's official website, he expressed his eagerness to bring energy and positivity to the squad, stating, "Hopefully, I can come with a lot of energy as I did in my former club. Energy and positiveness, a big smile on my face every day."
"I've heard so much about the club, I've talked with (Oscar) Schwartau and Anis (Ben Slimane) and they've only talked positive things about the club. When I had the interest from Norwich, I was just thinking that it could be a good match for me.
"I don't think that it's a secret that - it's also my goal here - we have to go up to the Premier League. That's the club's goal and also my goal."
Ben Knapper, the club’s sporting director, praised the efforts of head of recruitment Lee Dunn and the support from majority shareholder Mark Attanasio and Norfolk Holdings, highlighting the determination to secure such a coveted player.
"We're absolutely thrilled to get this deal over the line and to welcome Mathias and his family to our club," he said.
"Of course, for a player of this calibre, there was huge competition for his signature from right across Europe, but it speaks volumes for the work of everyone at Norwich City that he trusts us with the next step in his career."
"Our recruitment team, led fantastically by Lee Dunn, have been following Mathias closely and working on this for a considerable amount of time, and they must take huge credit for putting us in a position to do this deal."
"As should ownership; their support, ambition and resource have enabled this, and it's an extremely exciting signing for everyone connected with the club."
"Mathias is a wonderfully talented, versatile attacking player who we believe will add another dimension to our team. His movement and ability to attack space is elite, and the spirit with which he plays will endear and connect him to our supporters immediately."
"We firmly believe that he has great room to further develop and, in our environment, we are sure we can take him and his game to new levels.
"He is hungry and motivated to push both himself and us on in our quest to reach the Premier League."
Kvistgaarden's signing marks the seventh senior addition for head coach Liam Manning ahead of the 2025/26 Championship campaign, joining a squad that also includes a permanent signing for former Manchester City loanee Jacob Wright.
