Gunn Targets New Club After Joining PFA Training Squad

Angus Gunn is training with the PFA's free agent squad as he seeks a new club after leaving Norwich City. The former Canaries goalkeeper is in top shape.

Angus Gunn is embarking on a new chapter in his football career after joining the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) free agent training squad. The former Norwich City goalkeeper, who left Carrow Road at the end of last season following a four-year stint with the Canaries, is determined to find a new club and feels he is in excellent physical condition to do so.

Since departing Norwich, Gunn has faced a challenging summer. Although he has attracted interest from several clubs, including Everton, and has received potential offers from Saudi Arabian teams, he has yet to secure a contract ahead of the 2025-26 season. Recent reports from Turkish media have also suggested that a proposed move to Antalyaspor has fallen through. Read more about Forson Shines as Norwich City Eye New Season.

For the past fortnight, Gunn has been participating in the PFA's pre-season programme at the Champneys spa resort in Leicestershire. This initiative supports players without contracts, allowing them to maintain their fitness while searching for new opportunities. The resort has provided an ideal environment for him to prepare for the season ahead.

“At this time of year, all the players are getting back into pre-season,” Gunn remarked in a statement to official PFA channels. “Being out of contract, this gives us the same opportunity to do that and get the fitness in so that we're ready to go for wherever it'll be. Obviously, a lot of the teams go away and have a camp together. This is no different really: you've got all the facilities here at Champneys and obviously a good pitch, quality coaches and staff around. So if anything, it's even better.”

Training alongside other players has been a refreshing change for Gunn, who appreciates the chance to connect with fellow athletes and coaching staff. He remains acutely aware of the urgency to secure a new club as pre-season rapidly approaches.

“It’s a great place to come and an opportunity,” he added. “Obviously everyone's in the same position, so it's good to speak to all the other lads and the staff as well. It's a little bit different to just training on your own, so it's definitely beneficial and it gives you a good platform to go into pre-season somewhere.”

As clubs ramp up their pre-season preparations, Gunn is eager to seize any potential opportunities that may arise. The coming weeks will be pivotal as he aims to secure his next move and continue his footballing journey.
