Angus Gunn has agreed to join San Jose Earthquakes on a four-year deal after leaving Nottingham Forest. The former Norwich City keeper seeks regular first-team football.

Angus Gunn Joins San Jose Earthquakes

Former Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn is set for a move to the United States after agreeing to join Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes.

The 30-year-old became a free agent last month following his release from Premier League side Nottingham Forest and is understood to have agreed a four-year deal with the California-based club.

He would follow in the footsteps of several ex-Canaries to have represented the Earthquakes, including City legend Darren Huckerby, Kei Kamara, and Tony Powell.

Scotland's World Cup Campaign

The potential switch comes after a busy period for the Norfolk-born stopper, who played every minute of Scotland's World Cup campaign in North America before their group-stage exit last week.

Manchester United had also been credited with an interest in his services as a backup option at Old Trafford, but Gunn has made clear his desire to play regular first-team football again after limited opportunities at Forest last season, where he made just one appearance.

That lack of minutes prompted him to seek a January move amid concerns over his place in the Tartan Army squad this summer.

Gunn's Career Journey

It will mark Gunn's first venture overseas, having spent his entire career in England after initially coming through the academy ranks at Carrow Road before joining Manchester City in 2011.

The son of City legend Bryan, he rejoined Norwich on loan for the 2017/18 campaign under Daniel Farke and made his senior debut in the Championship opener away to Fulham.

Upon his return to the Etihad, he was swiftly sold to top-flight rivals Southampton for a reported £13.5m in July 2018.

After spending three years on the south coast, including a loan spell at Stoke City, Gunn returned to Norwich permanently in 2021.

He made 172 appearances in yellow and green across his two spells before being released at the end of the 2024/25 season, after which he joined Forest on a one-year deal.

Now the 25-time capped Scottish international looks set for a fresh start Stateside, with San Jose currently second in the Western Conference behind the Vancouver Whitecaps. For more details, visit The Pink'un.
