Leicester City will be without their first-choice goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk for the upcoming clash against Norwich City at Carrow Road. The 22-year-old Polish international had recently established himself as a key figure in Leicester's squad following Mads Hermansen's transfer to West Ham United. However, Stolarczyk is currently sidelined with a groin injury sustained during the first half of Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough. Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Stolarczyk will not be fit for the trip to Norfolk. "Unfortunately, he picked up a muscular injury in his groin, so we had to do a scan yesterday and the results were clear," Cifuentes explained. "It's not a big one, but he needs some time to recover. Maybe he will return after the international break. It's definitely going to be some weeks."
In Stolarczyk's absence, veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who boasts an impressive career with clubs such as Stoke City and Chelsea, stepped in during the second half against Middlesbrough. Cifuentes expressed confidence in Begovic’s ability to lead the team during this critical period, emphasising his vast experience. "No one needs to speak about Asmir's career; he's so experienced," noted Cifuentes. "He brings a lot in terms of leadership and what a good pro he is. He has been very good for the group since his arrival."
Leicester will also be monitoring defender Victor Kristiansen, who is doubtful for the match due to a knee injury sustained in last Saturday’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers. Cifuentes revealed that Kristiansen has not trained since the incident, stating, "It was an action actually quite early in the game, and it was getting worse through the game. Unfortunately, it's still quite a struggle with his knee, and we're waiting to see how he progresses."
As Leicester City prepares to face Norwich, the absence of key players like Stolarczyk and potentially Kristiansen presents an opportunity for the Canaries to capitalise.
