Sam Field Embraces Championship Pressure
A new season brings greater expectation at Norwich City, but Sam Field believes this squad is ready to embrace the Championship challenge.
The Canaries enjoyed a remarkable uplift under Philippe Clement in the second half of last season, taking 44 points from 22 matches in 2026 to climb from the relegation zone to ninth.
Field Confident in Team's Mindset
While impressive, that form came under a degree of freedom after a dismal opening to the Championship campaign last year. Field is confident that Norwich can manage the increased expectations to hit the ground running from a standing start.
"We were only a couple of points above relegation when I arrived, I think. The mindset changed very quickly of 'we're in a good position now. We'll start looking up,'" Field said.
"There'll be expectation now and that's a different type of pressure. But you've just got to lean into it a bit and enjoy it."
Positive Vibes in the Dressing Room
Field senses that mood not just in the dressing room, but across the club. "I'm sure all fans and everyone involved with the club can feel it. There'll be pressure this year. I think we've got to understand that," he added.
"But it feels like a really united group and it's going to need a big effort from everyone. I know what we want. I think we all know what we want. But we just have to take it one game at a time," the midfielder said.
