Teemu Pukki and Daniel Farke, two pivotal figures in Norwich City’s recent history, have reconnected to discuss their mutual successes and the new challenges each faces in their careers. Their collaborative journey at Carrow Road saw the duo secure two Championship titles and participate in two Premier League seasons, forging a strong bond that persists as they move into different phases of their professional lives.
Pukki, who joined Norwich City in June 2018, quickly became a fan favourite, amassing an impressive 88 goals in 210 appearances. This remarkable achievement ranks him fourth on the club's all-time scoring list, behind legends such as Iwan Roberts and Terry Allcock. The Finnish striker concluded his international career in November 2025, achieving a commendable 43 goals for his country over a span of 16 years, a tally that places him ahead of the iconic Jari Litmanen.
After parting ways with Norwich at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Pukki returned to Finland, signing with HJK Helsinki in January 2025. Since his return, he has made 44 appearances, netting 24 goals and demonstrating his continued prowess on the field. Read more about Sara Targets World Cup Spot After Brazil Call-Up.
In contrast, Farke is currently navigating a different set of challenges at Leeds United. In a recent interview with Viaplay, Pukki engaged with his former manager, who candidly spoke about the pressures associated with ensuring the Whites remain in the Premier League. "Stressful, stressful," Farke remarked. "It's a big club and a passionate club. Yes, lots of work, obviously, especially at this level, Teemu, as you know, on Premier League level."
Retaining his trusted backroom team, which includes assistant coach Edmund Riemer and first-team coach Christopher John, Farke aims to maintain continuity amid the rigours of top-flight football. "For me, it's important to have my core group of staff with me," Farke stated. "Because it's not a one-man show at this level. You need a good group you can trust, and who are loyal, and we still work very closely together."
Farke's previous ventures in the Premier League have been a blend of highs and lows. He experienced relegation with Norwich in the 2019/20 season and was dismissed shortly after registering his side's first league victory during the 2021/22 campaign, where Pukki scored a decisive penalty in a match that ultimately marked the end of Farke's tenure. Despite some scepticism regarding his Premier League record—only six wins and eight draws from 49 games with Norwich—Farke has made an impressive start at Leeds, achieving seven wins and 12 draws in his first 31 matches. Currently, Leeds sit 15th in the Premier League, four points above the relegation zone, with seven fixtures remaining.
Farke recognises the differences in squad experience between his current team and the one he built at Norwich. "Yes, it's obviously a different club, with a different setup and different players," he noted. "You were one of my most experienced players, but apart from you, hardly anyone had played at the top level before."
As Leeds faces a challenging relegation battle alongside established clubs like Tottenham and West Ham, Farke remains hopeful. "It's difficult when you have clubs like Tottenham involved in the relegation battle, along with Nottingham (Forest), who are playing in Europe. So, it's not easy, but I've got a good group together, and we're looking forward to the upcoming weeks."
The enduring connection between Pukki and Farke exemplifies the lasting relationships forged in football, even as both navigate new directions in their careers. Their reflections on their time at Norwich highlight a partnership that continues to evolve within the ever-changing landscape of the sport.
