Norwich Among Clubs Eyeing Hamza Abdelkarim

Norwich City are one of three English clubs monitoring Hamza Abdelkarim’s situation as Barcelona consider his next step. The Egyptian forward, currently on loan at Barcelona B, has attracted interest from Coventry City and Sheffield United as well.

Abdelkarim, who began his youth career in Malaysia before moving to Al Ahly in Egypt, made his senior debut last February. Barcelona secured him on loan with a conditional obligation to buy and are now weighing up whether to loan him out for regular first-team football.

Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick To Assess Abdelkarim Post-World Cup

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has confirmed he will evaluate Abdelkarim’s progress after the World Cup. Speaking to Catalan daily Inside Futbol, Flick said: “We’re planning pre-season and looking to bring in new faces from La Masia, something I’ve been doing from the beginning. When Hamza returns from the World Cup, we’ll see if he’s an option for us.”

Abdelkarim has been selected for Egypt’s World Cup squad despite only featuring at Under-17 level previously. His performances for Barcelona B have impressed, but his future remains uncertain pending Flick’s assessment.

Championship and Premier League Interest In Abdelkarim

Coventry, Norwich, Sheffield United Waiting

Coventry City, newly promoted to the Premier League, are reportedly the most determined to sign Abdelkarim, alongside Championship rivals Norwich City and Sheffield United. All three clubs face a wait to see if Barcelona will sanction a loan move.

Norwich, who enjoyed a strong second half of the season under Philippe Clement, are expected to receive more backing this summer and could add Abdelkarim to their attacking options. Sheffield United also remain in the mix, offering competition for the Egyptian forward’s signature.

How much Abdelkarim would play at a higher level is still unclear, especially given Coventry’s interest in more established forwards like Juventus’ Lois Openda. His World Cup performances could be decisive in determining his next destination.
