Norwich City are intensifying their search for a new manager following the dismissal of Johannes Hoff Thorup earlier this month.
Notably, former captain Russell Martin will not be returning to Carrow Road, as he has been excluded from consideration for the managerial position.
According to a report from The Pink Un, despite his deep-rooted connections to the club and a successful playing career, Martin is not in the frame for the role.
The club's board aims to conclude their search for a new head coach by the end of the month.
Martin, who has enjoyed considerable success in the Championship, appeared to be a natural fit for Norwich given his history and recent achievements. However, The Pink Un suggests that a return to his former club is unlikely at this time.
Despite this, Martin remains eager to return to management soon. In a recent appearance on Match of the Day 2, he disclosed that he has turned down "a few" job offers, indicating he is searching for the right opportunity. “We've turned a few opportunities down because it just didn't feel quite right,” he stated. “It's about the opportunity that it gives us, how we feel about it, the people you're working for – all of it comes into account.” He underscored the importance of a cultural fit and alignment with a club's playing style.
With Martin now ruled out of the managerial race, Norwich City are pressing on with their search for a new manager.
