McLean played his first 45 minutes in a month when he replaced Pelle Mattsson at the interval of the previous Charlton comeback.
Clement stated, "Kenny had a setback after the last game, he went to a specialist (on Friday), so maybe he can be available in the week to come. Maybe not." He added, "It's the same ankle but not the same issue."
Pelle Mattsson, who overstretched his hamstring against Charlton, may return this week as he feels much better. Oscar Schwartau also missed the match due to a minor nerve problem but is expected back for the Tuesday game against Derby.
Sam Field Steps Up as Captain
Sam Field deputised for McLean and Mattsson, taking the captain's armband against Watford. Clement praised Field's leadership, stating, "I selected Sam to captain because he's the most vocal, positive leader that we have on the pitch now with the starting XI."
Clement acknowledged Field's hard work and patience over the past months, saying, "He shows he understands the right things. He shows his heart for the club." Field's commitment has been a great example for the team.
Field Reflects on Dramatic Comeback
Sam Field hailed Norwich City's refusal to feel sorry for themselves after they recovered from two goals down to complete a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Watford. He noted a change in mood within the dressing room at half-time, emphasizing the importance of resilience.
"We were definitely angry with each other because we've come in two-nil down, and we know we shouldn't be," Field said. He felt a belief instilled by the manager helped the team mount their second-half fightback.
Field described the comeback as "a Hollywood blockbuster," highlighting the team's unity and determination. "I'm delighted for everyone because it's been a tricky few months, but we really stuck together there," he concluded.
