Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is optimistic about the development of Liverpool loanee Kaide Gordon, following the 19-year-old's impactful performance in the recent 1-1 draw against Leeds United. Thorup praised Gordon for stepping out of his comfort zone after coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute, helping to shift the momentum of the match.
Liverpool allowed Gordon to join Norwich City on a season-long loan to enhance his training and experience in the Championship. Thorup noted that Gordon's willingness to support the team in less familiar areas of the pitch is crucial for his growth as a player.
“I’m very pleased. Like I’ve said regarding him before, we need to get him up to speed so that he can play for more than 45 minutes, which is where he is at now,” Thorup remarked. “What I saw today was a player who is ready to support in areas of the game that may not be his favourite, which is exactly the approach we hope to see and want to see. What he gave the team was good, and he was a part of us changing the momentum of the game towards the end.”
With Thorup's encouragement, the Norwich City staff are eager for Gordon to increase his fitness levels in hopes of earning a starting position as the season progresses.
