England U21s secured a dominant 7-0 victory over Azerbaijan U21s at Ashton Gate Stadium on Tuesday, 15th October 2024, in their final match of the European Under-21 Championship Qualifying Group F. This resounding win ensured that England topped their group, edging out Ukraine for the top spot.

The match kicked off at 7:30pm, and it took just two minutes for Charlie Cresswell to open the scoring for the Young Lions. Callum Doyle added a second goal just before the half-hour mark. After a solid first half, England surged ahead with a prolific second-half performance. James McAtee found the net, followed by a Celal Huseynov own goal. Elliot Anderson, Dane Scarlett, and Omari Hutchinson each scored to round off the scoring.

Managed by Ben Futcher, with Lee Carsley still serving as the senior interim manager, the Young Lions had already qualified for Euro 2025 prior to this match, having secured a place as one of the three best second-placed teams. The victory was further sweetened by Ukraine’s slip-up against Serbia, allowing England to finish atop Group F. According to Sky Sports, the team will now await the finals scheduled for June 2025 in Slovakia.
