Diallo made his first appearance in the club's iconic yellow and green during Saturday's pre-season match against NAC Breda, where his performance stood out significantly. Manning expressed his admiration for Diallo, highlighting the versatility he brings to the squad—a vital trait as Norwich prepare to tackle the demands of the Championship. “I’m really pleased with Papa,” Manning stated. “It's not easy coming over with the language. I think he's shown a really good footballing brain because he doesn't necessarily understand everything that we've spoken about. But the visuals we've given him, the work we've done in training, I think he's shown quickly that he's got a good footballing brain and is able to transfer that.”

Diallo's ability to advance the ball and his flair during attacking phases provide Norwich with a new tactical option. Manning is eager to leverage this versatility, noting, “The fact that he can play anywhere on the left side and centrally gives us the option of moving him about and causing problems that way. He was good for 45 minutes.” Read more about Norwich City Launches Bold New Away Kit for 2025-26.

However, Diallo's promising debut is just one part of a broader fitness strategy as Norwich gear up for the new season. Manning revealed that several recent signings, including Jeffrey Schlupp and Mathias Kvistgaarden, require additional time to reach their optimal fitness levels. “There are a couple of those, unfortunately, where we have to be a little bit smart,” he remarked. “I think we've got to pick a team to win next weekend, but at the same point, we have many games after that where we want as many available as possible.”

The manager also acknowledged the challenges of integrating new players into a competitive environment. “You can rush them, force them in quickly, and increase minutes. There's always the risk. We're in that industry where we have to take calculated risks. But at the moment, it's unnecessary. I think with those, we can build them up and get them up to speed.”

As Norwich City prepares for the upcoming season, Diallo’s encouraging start, combined with a thoughtful approach to managing new arrivals, could lay the groundwork for a successful campaign. The supporters at Carrow Road will be keen to witness how this fresh talent continues to evolve.
