Topic's potential has not gone unnoticed on the international stage, having earned four caps for the Serbian national team. His arrival has sparked excitement among Norwich fans, particularly following a recent social media post from the club that showcased his impressive physique. "After the club posted on Instagram, fans were getting crazy about my biceps and about my physicality," Topic shared in an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk. "They have been waiting for a ‘number six’ like me. I'm ready for that and can't wait for the Championship to start." Read more about Norwich City Launches Bold New Away Kit for 2025-26.

Beginning his professional journey at Vojvodina in Serbia, Topic possesses a clear understanding of his role in English football. He expressed confidence in his suitability for the Championship, stating, "I'm very good for this league, I believe. I will adapt very quickly and I can't wait to feel the atmosphere at the games, to fight, to run. I know everything here is high intensity." His remarks highlight the demanding nature of the league and his eagerness to contribute.

The need for a defensive midfielder has been a long-standing concern for Norwich supporters. Last season, the team finished 13th, showcasing a potent attack as the second-highest scorers but faltering defensively with 68 goals conceded. With the departure of Dane Johannes Hoff Thorup, new head coach Liam Manning faces the challenge of reconfiguring the squad. This summer has seen a significant transformation at Carrow Road, with 11 new signings, including former Manchester City youth player Jacob Wright, all vying for positions in the midfield. Topic is determined to carve out his niche and pursue his dream of reaching the Premier League. "I believe it's one step forward and one step away from the Premier League," he remarked. "In the Championship, it's not only long balls and running; teams try to play as well. It's very competitive, you can win against everyone and also you can lose.”

In adapting to his new environment, Topic has found camaraderie among fellow Balkan players in the Norwich dressing room. "The atmosphere is very nice. Vladan (Kovacevic) and Jakov (Medic) have helped me a lot, and Ante (Crnac) as well because they are Balkans guys. We speak the same languages and that makes it easier for me to adapt quickly. New players, new coach, maybe we will need time to connect, but I think we will do it quickly," he explained.

As Norwich City prepare to launch their Championship campaign against Millwall on Saturday at 15:00 BST, Topic’s signing represents a significant step towards the club’s aspirations of returning to the Premier League. With his combination of physicality and ambition, the Canaries may have finally secured the midfield enforcer they have long sought.
