Kvistgaarden's Friends' Wild Journey
Mathias Kvistgaarden has revealed the crazy lengths that several of his friends took to witness his frantic Denmark international return.
The Norwich City striker was drafted into the squad at short notice for their Nations League victory over Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, prompting a quick dash to the UK for a trio of his close friends.
Memorable International Debut in Cardiff
Kvistgaarden completed a whirlwind 48 hours by earning his second Denmark cap after emerging from the bench to replace Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen in the closing stages of their Nations League victory over Wales, a result that moved the Danes into second place in Group D behind Portugal.
Following the full-time whistle, members of the Danish media spotted Kvistgaarden greeting several supporters in the stands before leaving the pitch. He explained the lengths his friends had gone to in order to watch him in Cardiff. Read more about Reyes Joins Woking on Loan as Canaries Seek Game Time.
Future Prospects for Kvistgaarden
After a memorable international return, Kvistgaarden's attention will quickly shift back to Norwich, where Mo Toure's shoulder injury may give him a chance to build on his encouraging start to the season.
A productive opening to the campaign earned Kvistgaarden his late call-up, with Philippe Clement recently suggesting the striker had returned for pre-season in improved condition. Toure's injury could now offer him a chance for a longer run in the side, although Jovon Makama will offer fierce competition.
Kvistgaarden has scored three goals in all competitions this season, form which helped earn his latest Denmark opportunity and could now place him firmly in contention for a bigger role at Carrow Road.
