Fisher Thrives Under Clement as Norwich City Aim High

Kellen Fisher is enjoying a resurgence at Norwich City, thanks to Philippe Clement's guidance. The young defender is regaining his form and making significant contributions.

Kellen Fisher is rediscovering his form at Norwich City, largely due to the guidance of Philippe Clement, who is committed to enhancing the young defender's abilities. Since Clement's arrival, Fisher has returned to the impressive level of performance that earned him the club’s Young Player of the Season award last year. His recent displays have been characterised by consistent contributions, particularly noted for his tenacity in tackling.

This revival follows a challenging period under former manager Liam Manning, who favoured Jack Stacey as his primary right-back. However, Clement has recognised Fisher’s potential and is dedicated to supporting his growth in the months ahead.

“I don’t want to make comparisons, and I don’t know well enough how he played last season. I only see how he’s playing now,” Clement remarked, emphasising his focus on the current state of play. Read more about Clement Targets January Reinforcements to Boost Canaries' Attack.

Clement highlighted Fisher's commitment and decision-making as standout attributes. “Kellen is somebody who plays with a big heart but is also doing the right things on the ball, making the right decisions in the football we want to play,” he explained. “We want to play a football where our full-backs have an important role both defensively and offensively. He's doing that well at the moment, and there's still potential to make it better, but he's making really good steps.”

Clement's tactical approach combines structure with flexibility, promoting a cohesive team effort. “We want to get where there is a lot of variation, but where it’s still structured, so that everybody makes variation together, and the same one, and the same movement, so that all the positions are filled in,” he said. “We work hard on that with the videos, with the short training sessions that we have, and Kellen is taking really good steps in recognising the situation and also in his communication with the people around him.”

Norwich City benefits from having two capable right-back options, with Stacey offering a contrasting style when needed. Clement acknowledged the positive competition for the position, stating, “It’s good to have two different profiles because we will have a lot of games. They will all get their game minutes if they perform on the pitch well.” Read more about Mahovo Targets Impact After Challenging Year at Norwich.

He also remarked on Stacey’s strong performances earlier in the season before his recent concussion, adding, “I saw also that in the beginning when I came in, that Jack Stacey was also doing really good things in that position. Jack is coming back now, also after the concussion that he had. It’s good to have two good players there.” Read more about Thorup Targets Rapid Vienna Revival After Norwich Exit.

As Fisher continues to develop, both he and Stacey are expected to play crucial roles in Norwich’s season, providing the depth and versatility necessary for a competitive campaign.
