Ellis Craven, a talented young goalkeeper from Norwich City, has officially joined Lowestoft Town on a loan deal that will initially last for one month. The 20-year-old shot-stopper has been brought in by the Southern League Premier Central Division side following previous loan spells at Leiston and Boston United earlier this season. Notably, Craven was an unused substitute during Norwich City's under-21 match against Tottenham Hotspur’s under-21 team last Saturday.
The timing of Craven's transfer is particularly significant for Lowestoft Town, who have been struggling with injuries to key players Luke Holt and Korey Beevor. Both players are facing long-term absences, which have severely impacted the team's performance. With Sam Blair, who had been filling in as a temporary goalkeeper, recently concluding his short-term contract, manager Andy Reynolds recognised the urgent need for a reliable option between the posts. To compound matters, goalkeeper Ronnie Yeo is set to serve a suspension following a red card received in Lowestoft's recent home defeat to Stourbridge.
Reynolds expressed his enthusiasm about Craven's arrival, stating, "I'm really pleased to welcome Ellis to the club. Ellis has experience at this level and higher, and it's great to have a young pro from a club known for producing top goalkeepers. With Sam Blair's short stay coming to an end, it was vital to get someone in, and now we can focus on getting our lads fit and maybe adding a few more to the squad."
Craven is expected to make his debut for Lowestoft in their upcoming Southern League Premier Central Division match against Bishop's Stortford, scheduled for Saturday. His addition could prove crucial as Lowestoft aims to strengthen their squad and navigate the challenges posed by injuries and suspensions in their campaign. With Norwich City's reputation for nurturing young talent, Craven's loan move represents a promising opportunity for both the player and the club as they seek to overcome their current difficulties.
