Cordoba Targets Glory as Panama Face England in World Cup

Norwich City's Jose Cordoba is set to represent Panama in the World Cup, facing England, Croatia, and Ghana in a challenging group stage.

Cordoba's World Cup Dream Realized

Norwich City defender Jose Cordoba is set for a World Cup meeting with England after being named in Panama's 26-man squad for this summer's tournament.

Cordoba will join teammates Kenny McLean and Anis Ben Slimane in representing their countries in this summer's competition held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Group Stage Challenges Ahead

Panama will play in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Ghana. This will pit Cordoba against one-time City loanee Harry Kane on the world stage, providing him with a significant opportunity to impress.

Panama kicks off their campaign on June 18 at Toronto's BMO Field against Ghana before facing Croatia six days later. Their group stage schedule concludes with a clash against the Three Lions at the MetLife Stadium in New York.

Coach's Ambitious Goals for Panama

Head coach Thomas Christiansen explained his selection as Panama targets progression to the group stages in only their second-ever World Cup after suffering three defeats in 2018. "We already knew we wanted to improve. A victory, dreaming of advancing from the group stage, we know how difficult it is; those setbacks make us stronger," Christiansen said.
