Ahmed and Ben Slimane Ignite Norwich's Revival

Norwich City are buoyed by the emerging partnership of Ali Ahmed and Anis Ben Slimane, who have quickly become pivotal to the team's Championship campaign.

Norwich City are experiencing a renewed sense of optimism, largely due to the burgeoning partnership between Ali Ahmed and Anis Ben Slimane at Carrow Road. Since Ahmed's transfer from the Vancouver Whitecaps in January, the duo have quickly integrated into the team, playing a vital role in Norwich’s attacking strategy in the Championship.

In his initial four appearances for the Canaries, Ahmed has demonstrated considerable potential, with the synergy between the winger and the attacking midfielder becoming a critical aspect of the team's recent resurgence. Ahmed provided insight into their developing relationship, noting its spontaneous beginnings during training sessions. "One of the first training sessions I had, it was a group that didn't play the day before. We were combining well in the first training session and I think the connection started from there," Ahmed explained.

Their connection extends beyond the pitch, as Ahmed has also expressed gratitude for Ben Slimane's support in helping him acclimatise to life in Norfolk. "He's been one of the main guys who's really, really helped me to settle in and just feel welcomed by trying to make it easy for me off the pitch and on the pitch," he stated.

The 23-year-old further emphasised the strong camaraderie within the squad, asserting that the team does not feel as though it is battling relegation. "I think there's a real connection with everybody on this team, honestly. When I came in, it didn't feel like a team that was in the bottom three because of the unity inside that team," Ahmed remarked.

His admiration for Ben Slimane is clear. "I definitely can't say I don't see the connection me and Anis have. He's a top player, though. He's a really, really good player. A number 10 is really important for me. He understands the space and how to make me flourish on the wing. He's been really helpful," he said.

Since Ahmed's arrival, Norwich have experienced an uptick in form, with a recent narrow loss to promotion-chasing Middlesbrough ending a four-match winning streak. The confidence within the squad is evident, and Ahmed attributes this belief to the coaching staff. "The belief in this group stems from the coaching staff. They really believe that we have a team that should be competing at the top end of the table. It's passed down to the group," he explained. Despite a challenging start to the season, Ahmed remains optimistic about Norwich's trajectory. "The group really believes that we could be one of the best teams in this league, although a slow start. Even before I came, I think it's a team that was improving. A team that was underachieving, but improving," he commented. Read more about Toure Targets Success as Norwich City Move Completes.
