Christos Tzolis completes £34m Arsenal move
Former Norwich City forward Christos Tzolis has joined Arsenal from Club Brugge in a £34million transfer. The Greece international, 24, has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions. He arrives as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who recently moved to Besiktas.
Tzolis featured in 14 Premier League games for Norwich during the 2021-22 season but failed to score. After loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf, he moved to Club Brugge in 2024, where he scored 43 goals in 108 appearances.
Arsenal praise Tzolis’ versatility and skill
Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta expressed confidence in the new signing. “We’re delighted to have completed the signing of Christos Tzolis,” Berta said.
Key attributes highlighted
“Christos is an extremely versatile attacking player who naturally operates on the left but is comfortable across the front line. He’s an excellent finisher with both feet, thrives in tight spaces, and possesses incredible technical ability.”
Berta added: “Christos has produced outstanding numbers in terms of goals and assists over the last three seasons, and he’s a player who will raise the technical level of our squad, while bringing positive energy, enthusiasm, and a strong mentality to our team.”
“We’re confident Christos will make a significant contribution to our club, and we hope our supporters will enjoy watching him play in an Arsenal shirt. We look forward to sharing this exciting new chapter together.”
Tzolis joins Arsenal amid defensive injury concerns
Tzolis is Arsenal’s third permanent signing of the summer, following Piero Hincapié and goalkeeper Illan Meslier. His arrival comes shortly after defender William Saliba was ruled out for an extended period with a back injury sustained during the World Cup.
The Greece international also featured against Arsenal in the Champions League last season, lining up for Club Brugge in their 3-0 defeat to Mikel Arteta’s side.
According to The Pink'un, Tzolis’ signing is a timely boost for Arsenal as they prepare to defend their Premier League title without Saliba at the back.
