Norwich City Release Trio as Young Talents Seek New Paths

Norwich City have confirmed the departures of Finley Welch, Harry Brook, and Hugo Valencia Gomez, allowing the young talents to pursue new opportunities in their careers.

Norwich City have officially announced the departures of three promising young talents—Finley Welch, Harry Brook, and Hugo Valencia Gomez—who will now pursue new opportunities beyond Carrow Road. This decision comes as part of a mutual agreement, allowing the players to seek fresh challenges in their football careers.

Finley Welch, a product of the club’s academy, made his senior debut in March 2024, coming on as a substitute in a match against Middlesbrough. Despite showing considerable potential, Welch faced setbacks, including a significant injury during a loan spell at Boston United. This season, he had been making notable contributions to the Under-21 squad in Premier League 2, where he demonstrated both skill and resilience.

Harry Brook joined Norwich from Millwall in 2020 and quickly established himself as a key player for both the Under-18 and Under-21 teams. The 21-year-old spent the first half of the current season on loan at Hornchurch in the National League South, where he aimed to gain invaluable first-team experience and sharpen his competitive edge. Hugo Valencia Gomez also departs after making appearances for both the Under-18 and Under-21 sides. Having signed his first professional contract with Norwich last summer, the 21-year-old is now eager to explore new avenues to advance his football career.

These departures mark a significant phase in Norwich City’s ongoing efforts to reshape their squad and refine their youth development strategy. While the exits of Welch, Brook, and Valencia Gomez represent a loss for the club, they also open doors for the players to realise their footballing ambitions elsewhere. The focus remains firmly on nurturing talent and fostering an environment conducive to player development.
