The arrival of Clement has marked a turning point in McConville's career. His dedication and hard work have paid off, as he has now solidified his position at the heart of the defence. “I think you learn from those sorts of experiences of not being in the team,” McConville reflected at a recent Norwich City Fans Social event. “It's not a position any footballer wants to be in. The Northern Ireland international expressed his determination to change his circumstances: “I did all I could to try and get out of it each time. Each opportunity I was given, I tried to get to this position, and thankfully I've been able to get to it now. I'm just trying my best again to stay in this position and keep improving every game, every day at the training ground, and doing as much as I can to become a better player for the football club.”

McConville's admiration for Clement is palpable. “It's been unbelievable ever since he came in on the first day. The training's been incredible. He really puts us to work, and it's what you want as a player, to be able to be given those opportunities to learn and improve yourself.”

Clement's belief in McConville has not only revitalised the defender's self-assurance but has also fostered a competitive spirit within him. “For me, he's just restored the confidence in me, something that I didn't really have since I came here. He's given me that opportunity to play, and then he's put it over to me to try and keep the shirt and stay in the team. I'm well aware that with the quality we have in the dressing room, my place is never safe.”

With each training session and match, McConville remains committed to making a significant impact and aiding the team’s success. “Every day at the training ground, every game I get to play, I'm just trying to do my best for the team, stay in the team, and keep improving.”
