Kovacevic Out for Portsmouth Clash
Vladan Kovacevic has been ruled out of Norwich City's Championship game against Portsmouth as he continues to follow concussion protocols. He was a notable absentee during the midweek 1-0 home defeat to Southampton.
Kovacevic suffered a head injury in a collision with Swansea's Adam Idah during the weekend's 2-1 loss. Manager Clement expressed confusion over why the referee did not stop the game after the incident, which he described as a big clash with the goalkeeper.
“As a concussion injury, he will not be available for Saturday, but we will see for next week how it evolves,” Clement stated.
Fisher's Fitness Update
Kellen Fisher, another key player, could potentially return after dealing with a back issue. He picked up the complaint while away with England's Under-21s.
Clement noted, “Kel came back from the national team with a problem in his back and got treatment for a week to 10 days. He was better, but the problem came back.”
While the injury does not appear serious, Fisher will require some treatment, and his availability for Saturday remains uncertain.
Grimshaw Shines in Goal
In Kovacevic's absence, backup keeper Daniel Grimshaw was named the sponsor's player-of-the-match against Southampton. Clement praised Grimshaw's performance, stating, “He did a lot of good things, so that's really good.”
The team's defense was solid overall, and Clement emphasized the need for improvement as they look to enhance their performance in the coming weeks. “We need to step up in the next weeks and months to come with this squad to make it better again,” he added.
