Kovacevic Out with Concussion
Norwich City goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic has been ruled out of tonight's clash with Southampton due to concussion, with Daniel Grimshaw stepping in as his replacement.
The Serbian goalkeeper sustained the injury early in the second half of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City after colliding with former Canaries striker Adam Idah. Despite receiving treatment on the pitch, Kovacevic continued to play for the remainder of the match.
Key Changes in Starting XI
Grimshaw's appearance marks his third of the season, but it is his first in the Championship since Norwich's 3-0 away win at Oxford United in February. Caleb Ansen will take his place on the bench.
In addition to Kovacevic, Kellen Fisher will also miss the match. Philippe Clement hinted at Fisher's absence during his pre-match press conference. The England youth international felt discomfort during a training session following the Swansea game, leading to a scan on Monday afternoon.
Jack Stacey retains his position at right-back, while Ben Chrisene replaces Darlin Yongwa on the left side. Anis Ben Slimane is another change, taking over from Paris Maghoma in the attacking midfield role behind striker Mathias Kvistgaarden.
Injury Updates Ahead of Southampton Clash
Norwich's hotshot Mo Toure is expected to remain sidelined until January after undergoing shoulder surgery. Captain Kenny McLean is also out for a few more weeks due to an ankle issue.
Papa Amadou Diallo has been dealing with muscle problems, but a recent visit to a specialist may have identified the cause. He is expected to be out for several more weeks.
Tonight's match comes too soon for Mirko Topic, who has been unavailable for almost a year due to an ACL injury. However, there is positive news as Clement confirmed Topic is set to return in an Under-21 fixture against West Ham on Friday evening.
Gabe Forsyth has faced a minor setback in his recovery from a knee injury, but a scan revealed no major concerns. Ali Ahmed remains a long-term absentee, expected to miss most of the season.
