John Mousinho Praises Abu Kamara Ahead of Norwich Clash

Portsmouth chief John Mousinho expresses confidence in Abu Kamara's Championship capabilities while wishing him an off day against Norwich City.

When Portsmouth face Norwich City on Saturday, Mousinho hopes Abu Kamara will have an off day, as he expressed confidence in his ability to perform at Championship level. Last season, Kamara scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists during his loan stint at Fratton Park, contributing significantly to Portsmouth's League One title win.

The 21-year-old's impressive form attracted the attention of Hull City, which signed him on deadline day at the end of August. This transfer, which could cost up to £4 million, ended Portsmouth's hopes of bringing him back. Mousinho has praised Kamara's potential impact as he prepares to face his former teammates.

"We've obviously watched Hull from a preparation point of view, but to us, Abu is just another player we have to be aware of as an opposition threat," Mousinho said. "Paying that sort of money was never realistic for us, and it's great Abu was able to do that off the back of last season. I think he fully deserved it."

Mousinho noted that Kamara's performance improved significantly during his loan, saying, "What was particularly impressive with Abs was the fact it is his first loan and he hit the ground running. You don't come from an Under-21s side and affect every game." He added, "I wish Abu all the best, just not at the weekend! Yes, absolutely, he can perform in the Championship; I hope not for this weekend, though."
