Isaac Hayden Joins Leyton Orient

Former Norwich loanee Isaac Hayden has signed for League One side Leyton Orient on a two-year deal.

Hayden, 31, recently departed QPR following the conclusion of his contract, having represented the Rs 47 times across two spells. Before his time at Loftus Road, the Jamaica international spent nine years at Newcastle United, where he made 171 appearances.

During his time in the North East, he had a loan stint with the Canaries in the 2022/23 campaign, featuring just 14 times due to knee injuries.

Reuniting with Tony Springett

Now, as he swaps West London for East, Hayden links up with former City teammate Tony Springett. He admitted that the prospect of regular game time was a key factor in his decision to join Orient.

"I loved my time at QPR; it's a fantastic club with great people and a great fan base. But I think last season I didn't play quite as much as I wanted to," Hayden told club channels.

He expressed his desire to play week in and week out, stating, "I felt like I still had that real hunger and desire to play as many minutes and games as I could."

A Full-Circle Moment for Hayden

Born in Chelmsford, Hayden described the chance to represent a club close to his roots as a full-circle moment in his career. "Leyton Orient is a historic club, rich in history; it's a club I know well from growing up," he said.

Reflecting on his past, he noted, "As a young lad, I played against Leyton Orient many moons ago at Brisbane Road, and that's the only time I've played there." He looks forward to making a significant impact at the club.
