Forson Targets Impact After Injury Comeback

Amankwah Forson is eager to make his mark for Norwich City following a three-month recovery from a hamstring injury, ready to contribute to the team's Championship campaign.

Amankwah Forson is ready to make a significant impact after a challenging three-month recovery from a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined Norwich City from Red Bull Salzburg in August 2024, has faced a difficult start to his English football career, primarily due to injuries. Now fully fit and eager to contribute, Forson is poised to seize opportunities on the pitch.

In a recent interview, Forson expressed his optimism about returning to action, stating, “Generally, I’m feeling really good. I feel tougher now. I feel really good being back. Mentally, I’m feeling really good, and physically good to move forward.” His positive outlook follows a frustrating period marked by missed matches, highlighting the camaraderie he values with his teammates. “It’s always a great feeling to be with the team... If you’re out injured, you’ve been alone, and then it’s just a different feeling. It’s been great coming back with the team.”

Forson’s injury troubles began with a setback at Deepdale last December, a reminder of the unpredictability that football often brings. “It’s part of football,” he commented. “You never know what’s going to happen, and you can never decide how it is. The only thing you can do is just keep your focus and then come back stronger. That’s the most important thing.” Read more about Mattsson's Own Goal Costs Canaries in Portsmouth Stalemate.

Norwich City’s head coach, Philippe Clement, has played a crucial role in Forson’s development, both personally and within the squad. Forson acknowledged Clement's supportive approach, saying, “Philippe has been really good with me. He knows what he’s doing, training and tactics, even personal stuff too; it’s good. You can see how it’s working, so it’s really good.” Read more about Norwich City Appoint Dr. Ford as Performance Director.

Now entering his second season, Forson feels he has acclimatised well to Norwich, embracing the challenges of adapting to the English climate and Clement’s coaching philosophy. “It feels good to play in front of the fans... they’re all helping to get the good out of you,” he noted, reflecting on the encouraging atmosphere at Carrow Road.

His return to competitive play was marked by a thrilling late winner against Sheffield United last month—a moment he described as “a great feeling.” Forson elaborated, “Being away from the pitch, getting injured and then getting in to help the team to get the three points at that moment was a great feeling.” The excitement of scoring in front of home supporters resonates deeply with him, as he understands the joy of aiding his team's success. “I think if you’re an attacker, you love just to score, but you never know when the opportunity comes. It’s always fun to play there.” Read more about Sara Targets Premier League Return as Spurs Pursue Deal.

Forson is committed to maintaining his fitness and contributing to Norwich City’s ambitions this season. “My aspirations and goals are just to stay fit and then keep going and do what I used to do. I need to keep focused and then help the team to get where we need to be,” he affirmed.

With Forson back in action, Norwich City fans can look forward to seeing how his contributions will shape the team's journey in the Championship.
