Dobbin Joins Southampton as Canaries Bid Farewell

Lewis Dobbin has completed a permanent transfer to Southampton from Aston Villa, following a successful loan spell at Norwich City. The winger's move is valued at £10 million.

Lewis Dobbin Joins Southampton Permanently

Former Norwich City loanee Lewis Dobbin has secured a permanent move to Championship rivals Southampton.

The deal for the winger is said to be worth £10 million including add-ons, with the ex-Canaries man signing a four-year deal after leaving Premier League side Aston Villa.

Impressive Loan Spell at Norwich City

Dobbin, who was popular with Norwich fans owing to the impact he made during his loan spell, spent last season on loan at Preston North End, where he impressed with 10 goals and seven assists in 39 Championship matches. That form generated significant interest in his services, with Southampton winning the race to secure his signature.

His time at Carrow Road came through a loan move from Villa in January 2025, and Dobbin made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice. A calf injury suffered at Blackburn in March ended his Canaries career prematurely.

Dobbin Excited for Southampton Challenge

Speaking about his move to St Mary's, Dobbin said: "It's an amazing feeling, I'm very grateful to be able to represent this club and to be given the opportunity to play for Southampton is something that I can't ever take for granted."

Southampton's director of football, Johannes Spors, added: "We are really pleased that Lewis has chosen to join us ahead of other clubs, underlining his desire to be a Southampton player from the first moment we declared our interest in him."

Norwich supporters will get an early chance to see Dobbin back in opposition colours, with Southampton due at Carrow Road on October 14, before the return fixture at St Mary's on February 17. For more details, visit The Pink'un.
