Clement Targets Southampton Revival as Canaries Seek Momentum

Philippe Clement aims to reignite Norwich City's Championship campaign against Southampton, seeking to end a troubling run of six defeats in nine matches.

Clement Aims for Southampton Revival

Philippe Clement wants to summon the spirit of Southampton again to kickstart Norwich City's Championship season.

City's 2-1 league win over the Saints, a month into Clement's Carrow Road tenure just under 12 months ago, felt like a momentum-shifting result that helped propel the Canaries clear of danger.

Norwich could do with an encore on Wednesday, after six league defeats in their opening nine games second time around punctured plenty of pre-season optimism.

"We're working day and night on that," said Clement. "So every second that I'm awake, we're working on that."

Clement emphasized the need for cohesion and a new dynamic within the team, especially after losing key players.

He expressed confidence in his squad's ability to perform well against Southampton, stating, "For me, for sure, Southampton is one of the top three best teams in the league this season."

Addressing Team Challenges and Injuries

Clement indicated there are two major injury concerns from the squad on duty at Swansea at the weekend.

"I don't want to say too much about the squad because I don't want to make our opponents too smart about things," he said. "But for sure, we're going to miss one, maybe two out of the squad from the last game."

He acknowledged the disappointment following the Swansea match, where the players showed good physical statistics but failed to secure a result.

"If we take two of the three chances we had, and you get a result there, the perception is totally different," he noted.

Clement stressed the importance of reacting positively to setbacks and creating a supportive atmosphere at Carrow Road.

Fan Frustration and Future Aspirations

Philippe Clement hears the Norwich City fan frustration loud and clear but is pledging to lead another Championship turnaround plan.

City hosts Southampton at Carrow Road on Wednesday night, aiming to end a dire run of six league defeats in nine.

Clement believes the current situation is a smaller turnaround than last season, citing improvements in fitness and fewer injuries.

He emphasized the need to create momentum and earn results, stating, "It's about every time standing up and fighting harder and better and smarter for the next game."

Clement's confidence stems from the quality of a young squad, and he is determined to guide them towards improvement and success.
