Clement Urges Focus Over Statistics
Philippe Clement does not want Norwich City to become mathematicians after their loss to Swansea. Following nine Championship games, six defeats, and 19 goals conceded, the Canaries boss believes that fixating on numbers will not help their current situation. City squandered a one-goal lead, with Jacob Wright scoring first before being pegged back in the second half. Former Canaries striker Adam Idah eventually converted the winner after nodding in from Melker Widdell's cross.
Clement insists that the team must focus on moving forward rather than dwelling on past performances. "I don't want to go in those stats now after what the team did today because the team played not today to concede 19 goals," he stated. "We can make an evaluation at the end of the season because at the end of the season we want to be in the playoff spots. That's our ambition."
Mattsson Reflects on Defensive Lapses
Pelle Mattsson believes Norwich City can take heart from their display against Championship leaders Swansea City, despite suffering a third consecutive league defeat. The Canaries were undone by two defensive lapses in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, as Moussa Yeo and Adam Idah struck to overturn Jacob Wright's 28th-minute opener.
Frustrated by the team's loss of focus after halftime, Mattsson acknowledged the need for consistency. "We switched off today, but I think for most of the game we can be proud about bouncing back this way," he said. "But it's not enough in this league. You need to be focused for 90 minutes, and we have to learn from that, but it has to be soon."
Looking Ahead to Upcoming Matches
Clement is determined to get Norwich City back on track in the Championship. He wants his players to concentrate on the immediate challenges ahead, including a double header at Carrow Road against Southampton and Portsmouth. Read more about Norwich Target Vital Response as Swansea Loom.
