Andre Brooks pulls out of Jamaica squad
Norwich City winger Andre Brooks has withdrawn from international duty with Jamaica due to injury. The 23-year-old, who made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in March during a 1-0 FIFA World Cup play-off win over New Caledonia, was selected for the latest CONCACAF Nations League fixtures against Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Brooks was absent from Jamaica’s matchday squad for their 3-2 opening win over Guatemala and has since pulled out alongside fellow wide man Leon Bailey. According to The Pink'un, both players have been replaced by teenage forward Jahmarie Nolan, with attackers Jamone Lyle and Tajay Grant called in to train with the squad.
Brooks joins six Canaries missing international duty
Andre Brooks is one of six Norwich players to withdraw from international duty during this extended break due to injury. Alongside Brooks, Mo Toure, Kenny McLean, Ben Chrisene, Jose Cordoba and Paris Maghoma have all pulled out of their respective national squads.
The exact nature of Brooks’ injury has not been disclosed. He played 82 minutes in Norwich’s 4-3 home defeat to Bolton Wanderers last weekend before being replaced by Ante Crnac. Manager Philippe Clement has already confirmed that Toure will be out for months, while McLean and Chrisene face several weeks on the sidelines.
Brooks has been a key figure since joining from Sheffield United in the summer, making 10 appearances and contributing six goal involvements this season. The hope is that his withdrawal is precautionary ahead of Norwich’s trip to Swansea City after the international break.
Norwich players active during international break
Despite the injury withdrawals, Norwich still have 10 players representing their countries during the international window. Two have already featured in recent matches.
